The Wave 2 Freediving course, designed for ages 16 and up, you will take your skills and performance to the next level. Learn how to optimize your pre-dive preparation, refine your Frenzel equalization and introduce you to the no-fins technique.

Learn how to optimize your pre-dive preparation, refine your Frenzel equalization and introduce you to the no-fins technique. During this course participants will learn to master the free falling technique to save energy and dive into deeper waters.

During the confined water sessions participants will refine skills learned during the Wave 1 course, practice extending static breath holds beyond two and a half minutes, and learn the dolphin kick. This certification course includes:

  • Advanced Frenzel Equalization training

  • Visualization workshop & practice

  • Depth range: 12-30m

  • Stretching and breathing practices

The course structure includes online theory development, which is completed at home using the Molchanovs Educational online system, knowledge review session in class with your instructor, 1 confined water skills session and 2 open water skills sessions. The course takes a minimum of 2.5 days with morning and afternoon sessions, each training session takes around 2 hours.

Prerequisites:

  • 16 Years minimum of age (16-17 must have parental consent)

  • Lap 1/Wave 1 certificate for Lap 2

  • Wave 1 certificate for Wave 2

  • OR completed crossover evaluation

Pool Requirements

  • Static 2 min 30 sec

  • DYNB 50m

  • DNF 35m

Open Water requirements: 

  • CWTB & FIM 24-30m

  • CNF 15m

  • CWTB buddying 10-15m

  • Rescue from 15m

Cost Includes:

  • 3x Training sessions (1x Confined Water + 2x Open water sessions)

Free Diving

Equipment requirements

  • Mask – A low volume spearfishing/freediving mask. 

  • Snorkel – A simple J. style snorkel

  • Wetsuit – A freediving two piece, open cell wetsuit is recommended. A proper freediving suit will positively influence your course experience.

  • Fins – Long Blade freediving fins. 

  • Weight belt – A rubber weight belt is preferred. 

  • Weights – A selection of 1lb and/or 2lb weights, most people use 5-10lbs. 

Optional Items

  • Pool Suit - A 3mm surf suit or something similar is highly recommended for the pool. A 5mm suit will work for the pool but will require a lot more weight for you to be properly buoyant in the pool

  • VENTED Docs Pro Plugs - If you are sensitive to the cold water, you may want to consider purchasing some VENTED Docs Pro Plugs.
