WAVE 1 (Intro)  $450

Discover comfort and confidence underwater by learning how to unlock your natural freediving capabilities. Discover the underwater world in the most natural way, with comfort and confidence, as you harness your freediving capabilities. The Molchanovs Wave 1 Beginner Freediver course offers a fun and relaxing experience while providing the knowledge, skills and experience you need to safely freedive.

Wave 1 Details

In this introductory course, you learn the basics of freediving and discover your natural freediving ability. This premium experience is aimed for beginners as well as experienced freedivers who do not have any formal training. Participants will learn techniques to increase breath holds beyond 90 seconds and will practice breath hold dives with and without fins.  This course certification includes:

• Relaxation techniques & practice

• Frenzel equalization technique development

• Depth range: 0-20m

• Stretching and breathing practices

The course structure includes online theory development, which is completed at home using the Molchanovs Educational online system, knowledge review session in class with your instructor, confined water skills sessions, and open water skills sessions. The course takes a minimum of 2.5 days with morning and afternoon sessions, each training session takes around 2 hours

Pre-requirements:

• 16 years minimum of age (16-17 years old with parental consent)

• Swim 200m unassisted & non-stop

Free Diving Equipment requirements

• Mask – A low volume spearfishing/freediving mask. A standard snorkel/scuba mask is acceptable for the Wave 1 Freediver course.

• Snorkel – A simple J. style snorkel

• Wetsuit – A freediving two piece, open cell wetsuit is recommended. A proper freediving suit will positively influence your course experience. Surfing wetsuits are OK.

• Fins – Long Blade freediving fins. Standard snorkel/scuba fins are acceptable.  We do not accept “split fins” or the full open heel and bootie style. 

• Weight belt – A rubber weight belt is preferred. A standard webbing weight belt is OK.

• Weights – A selection of 1lb and/or 2lb weights, most people use 5-10lbs. 

Optional Items

• Pool Suit - A 3mm surf wetsuit or something similar is highly recommended for the pool. A 5mm wetsuit will work for the pool but will require a lot more weight for you to be properly buoyant in the pool

• VENTED Docs Pro Plugs - If you are sensitive to the cold water, you may want to consider purchasing some VENTED Docs Pro Plugs. 

WAVE 2 (Intermediate) $550

The Wave 2 Freediving course will take your skills and performance to the next level. Learn how to optimize your pre-dive preparation, refine your Frenzel equalization and introduce you to the no-fins technique.

Wave 2 Details

Learn how to optimize your pre-dive preparation, refine your Frenzel equalization and introduce you to the no-fins technique. During this course participants will learn to master the free falling technique to save energy and dive into deeper waters.

During the confined water sessions participants will refine skills learned during the Wave 1 course, practice extending static breath holds beyond two and a half minutes, and learn the dolphin kick. This certification course includes:

• Advanced Frenzel Equalization training

• Visualization workshop & practice

• Depth range: 12-30m

• Stretching and breathing practices

The course structure includes online theory development, which is completed at home using the Molchanovs Educational online system, knowledge review session in class with your instructor, 1 confined water skills session and 2 open water skills sessions. The course takes a minimum of 2.5 days with morning and afternoon sessions, each training session takes around 2 hours.

Molchanovs Junior Freediving Program

Ages 4–15 | Breath • Confidence • Water Safety • Performance

The Molchanovs Freediving Education Junior Program is a globally recognized system designed to introduce children (ages 4–15) to freediving in a safe, progressive, and age-appropriate way.

Students develop:

• Water confidence and safety

• Breath awareness and control

• Focus, discipline, and emotional regulation

• A lifelong connection to the ocean

The program progresses through three core pathways:

1. Discover (Introductory Experience)

“First breath. First connection.”

Overview
The Discover level is a short, accessible introduction designed to build comfort in the water and curiosity about breath-hold diving.

What students learn:

• Basic relaxation and breathing techniques

• Comfort with facial immersion

• Intro to equalization (e.g., Valsalva)

• Fundamental movement patterns (kick, glide, duck dive)

Structure:

• 1–1.5 hour experience

• Pool/confined water

• No certification required

Outcome:
Students gain confidence, safety awareness, and positive first exposure to underwater breathwork.

2. Lap (Pool-Based Certification Pathway)

“Build skill. Build control.”

Overview
The Lap pathway focuses on pool freediving, where students develop technique, breath control, and foundational performance skills in a controlled environment.

Key focus areas:

• Breath-hold swimming (dynamic apnea)

• Relaxation and recovery breathing

• Equalization practice (Frenzel progression)

• Basic freediving theory (physiology, equipment)

• Safety and buddy awareness

Environment:

• Pool or confined water

Progression:

• Builds progressively across levels

Outcome:
Students develop technical skill, body awareness, and confidence underwater—forming the foundation for open water diving.

3. Wave (Open Water Certification Pathway)

“Explore depth. Apply skill.”

Overview
The Wave pathway introduces students to open water freediving, applying their pool-based skills in a real ocean or natural water environment.

Key focus areas:

• Duck dives and descent techniques

• Equalization at depth

• Controlled ascent and recovery breathing

• Open water safety and rescue awareness

• Environmental awareness and ocean respect

Environment:

• Ocean or open water (ages typically 8+)

Outcome:
Students learn to move safely and confidently in depth, developing a deeper connection to the ocean and their own physiology.
