In this introductory course, you learn the basics of freediving and discover your natural freediving ability. This premium experience is aimed for beginners as well as experienced freedivers who do not have any formal training. Participants will learn techniques to increase breath holds beyond 90 seconds and will practice breath hold dives with and without fins.  This course certification includes:

  • Relaxation techniques & practice

  • Frenzel equalization technique development

  • Depth range: 0-20m

  • Stretching and breathing practices

The course structure includes online theory development, which is completed at home using the Molchanovs Educational online system, knowledge review session in class with your instructor, confined water skills sessions, and open water skills sessions. The course takes a minimum of 2.5 days with morning and afternoon sessions, each training session takes around 2 hours

Pre-requirements:

  • 16 years minimum of age (16-17 years old with parental consent)

  • Swim 200m unassisted & non-stop


Certification Passing Requirements

Pool requirements (for Wave 1 & Lap 1)

  • 1 min 30 sec static

  • 30m DYNB

Open Water requirements (for Wave 1)

  • CWTB & FIM 12-20m

  • CWTB Buddying 6-10m

  • Rescue from 6-10m

Cost Includes:

  • Online Theory development using a complete educational system, base training access, and theory exam

  • 4  sessions (1x Theory, 1x Confined Water, 2x Open water sessions)

  • Internationally recognized e-certification

  • Molchanovs Base Training and dashboard access



Free Diving Equipment requirements

  • Mask – A low volume spearfishing/freediving mask. A standard snorkel/scuba mask is acceptable for the Wave 1 Freediver course.

  • Snorkel – A simple J. style snorkel

  • Wetsuit – A freediving two piece, open cell wetsuit is recommended. A proper freediving suit will positively influence your course experience. Surfing wetsuits are OK.

  • Fins – Long Blade freediving fins. Standard snorkel/scuba fins are acceptable.  We do not accept “split fins” or the full open heel and bootie style. 

  • Weight belt – A rubber weight belt is preferred. A standard webbing weight belt is OK.

  • Weights – A selection of 1lb and/or 2lb weights, most people use 5-10lbs. 

Optional Items

  • Pool Suit - A 3mm surf wetsuit or something similar is highly recommended for the pool. A 5mm wetsuit will work for the pool but will require a lot more weight for you to be properly buoyant in the pool

  • VENTED Docs Pro Plugs - If you are sensitive to the cold water, you may want to consider purchasing some VENTED Docs Pro Plugs.
